To install the second ring, start the gapped section of the ring in the
second groove with the rest of the ring angled up over the top of the
piston. Then use ring expander pliers to slowly open the gap while you
lightly push down on the opposite side of the ring. As the gap becomes
open enough the ring will easily lower into place. Only spread open the
ring as much as necessary.
